Ex Tenebris ad Lucem album release!

November 28, 2025

Today marks the release of my new album ‘Ex Tenebris ad Lucem’! The title translates from Latin as ‘From Darkness into the Light’ and it is a crazy ride through different stages in the light/darkness theme. This can be viewed quite broadly as it can be literal but also symbolic or emotional or spiritual. As all of my music, I would like you to interpret it in your own personal way :)

I had the pleasure to work with some awesome classical soloists who gave this album it’s unique sound palette: a cello, piano, full choir (SATB) and soprano recorder. The mix between powerful orchestral samples and the classical musicians makes it very bombastic while being super lyrical at the same time. Inspirations were various JRPG soundtracks and music from the Classical period. Also, I love using Latin as a language for choir lyrics! It has an archaic but also a timeless feel to it.

Let me walk you through each song!

01 Eclipse

As the journey from darkness to light begins, we first get plunged into the darkness (but still in a poetic way). The cello draws you in with its dark sonorities, then gets picked up by the piano, which gets us into the tutti section where the choir vocals go all out. Keep an eye out for the epic recorder solos in this one!

02 Fighting the Light

With the second song, we get the energy fully going as this is an epic battle track. We will not return to the light but do everything to remain in the shadows! Celebrate the intense darkness, soaring from one intense passage to the next. Right after the piano starts you get the full impact of the grandiose choir, and the cello is shredding some awesome solo's in this one.

03 Ex Tenebris ad Lucem

The title track and an incredibly vulnerable song, just a piano and two cellos intertwining their voices. This is where it all comes together, a quiet transformation from Darkess to the Light, a shift of mindset.

04 Fireworks [花火]

With "Fireworks [花火]" we celebrate the intense but brief light in the darkness. From a choir dialogue, to a sweet piano and cello waltz, to an apotheosis of all instruments in an otherworldly tutti that’s showing off the full range of the musicians. The Japanese word for fireworks is 'hanabi' (花火), which literally translates to "fire flowers". This is such a beautiful description, which also reflects the fleeting beauty of everything… And so the journey comes to a solemn end.

> The album is available on your favourite streaming platforms and of course in my shop!

I hope you enjoy listening!
